Our House

We love our House.
The Lord led us to it at just the right time, when we needed it quickly. It is two minutes from the church. Our Neighbors on either side have lived here since the start of the Neighborhood. It is great to have such established neighbors, but did I mention that our homes were built about 50 years ago? We have lived in two brand new homes in our nearly 10 years of marriage, but they lack the character that we love in an older home. Character like:

  • A Tree house in the Backyard

  • Maple, Mimosa, Apple, Pear, Peach and Cherry Trees

  • A Secret Bathroom Upstairs

  • A Large Master Bedroom and Bath Built-on

  • A Sun room Built- on

  • A Screened in back porch and a covered patio off of that

  • Built in bookshelves upstairs

  • Hardwood floors throughout

These are a few of the blessings in our old, matured house. It has weathered the test of time. But like they say... "Every Old Barn Needs a Fresh coat of Paint."

We looked at this home during an Ice Storm in 2004. And moved in shortly after at the end of February. We have celebrated all 5 of Olivia's birthdays here. We have done a lot of work on the house in that time.

  • The Sun room is on it's 4th color since we moved

  • Kevin Hand Painted a B&W Checkerboard floor

  • Our bedroom is beautiful in Chocolate and Cream

  • All the Children's rooms are on their second color

  • We painted the Living Room recently

  • And much, much more

Now, why did I bore you with all of those details? Because a room is missing in the list of our remodels. Have you figured out what room has been neglected? No, not the laundry room, no not the hallway or stairway. Yes, you guessed! The KITCHEN!!!!

This room was

  • professionally decorated,

  • the wallpaper hung with great care and precision

  • Every color matched perfectly

So why mess with a good thing you ask? Because the last remodel on the Kitchen was in 1980!!!

We have put off the dreaded labor and expense long enough. We have invited the church over at the end of this month and that is our motivation to get it DONE!! I, Rebecca, shouldn't even be typing this blog. I am meeting Kevin to choose light fixtures to replace the 1980's rattan ceiling fan and 1960's original light fixture. Pray we choose wisely and the cost will be LOW!

I leave you with the assurance that I am so thankful for our Happy Home, but won't an updated Kitchen be Great!!! Will post pics when completed!

The Best Christmas Pagent Ever

The Best Christmas Pagent Ever...or at least the best our young family have ever experienced. We were excited for our Chruch's annual children's play this year, because Anna Grace and Olivia were old enough to have a part. Anna Grace absolutely loves plays, so when given the opportunity to be narrator in " A Tale of Three Trees"- she was thrilled.

Anna spoke her part loud and clear with lots of expression. We thank the Lord that our children are beginning to serve along side us in the ministry.

Well, Anna Grace wasn't the only Hearn in the play. Besides Rebecca directing and assisting the Sporings with the play, we had an little angel from our family to participate.

Olivia heard the "Tale of Three Trees" story this past summer and could tell the whole tale from start to finish. She heard it told a little differently than we practiced and let me say that bugged her to no end!

Olivia was well suited to the part of angel because of her interest in the angels in our Christmas decorations at home. She wanted to hang an angel outside our door so everyone would know that we belived in Jesus. She also wanted her hair styled just like that porcelin angel's for the play.

All the children did a great job in the play, the gospel was shared by Kevin (Pastor Hearn) and two sets of parents, to children who ride the bus, came to see thier children in the play. We trust they return or that we may win them to Christ.

Thank the Lord for the "Old Rugged Cross" which we sang about at the end of the play. Just as the three trees were used by the Lord in our story, may we be ready to work for Christ in 2009.
